(Remember you can post prompts yourself off schedule as well!)

Discussion Prompts will be posted weekly every Friday, while Creative Prompts will be posted the 1st of every month. Please specify which type of prompt you're suggesting!

Discussion Prompts are questions for you to answer in the comments. They may be about your OCs, you as a creative, and everything in between. Your answers can be short or long, a sentence or an essay. Whatever you'd like to share!

Creative Prompts are for you to create something inspired by it. They may be a sentence or two, or as little as one word. It's up to your interpretation, and all mediums are welcome! You can share your finished work in a new post. WIPs are welcome as well!

Note that while not all prompts may be chosen for the schedule, all suggestions are helpful!

Here's a small stack of prompts from a creative server that has led to some neat character-spinning responses. I take no credit for these, they were pulled from my very clever friends' prompts.

• How loose is their use of the phrase 'I love you'?


• Has your OC broken taboos? Do they regret it?


• What does your character see when they look at themselves in the mirror?


• In your OC's world, what does the everyday life of a service worker look like?


• What would give your character more confidence in life? Or do they already have too much?


• Name something your character misses but-- if offered-- they don't actually want back.


• Is your character a trusting person or not? Are they trustworthy, themselves?


• If your character was living in the present day real world, what real world job would they have? If they already live in a realistic world, what kind of job would they have in a fantasy world?


• Your blorbos have a cold. How do they handle it? Do they get wiped out for a day, a week? Or do they just have a sniffle for a while? Are they more prone to head colds, stomach aches, something else? What home remedies do they employ?


• What season do you imagine your character/setting in by default? (For characters: do they have any strong memories associated with that particular season or weather? For settings: what's the climate like? What seasons are most prominent?)


• Has your character ever gone to school? Had a formal education? Were they a good student or a hooligan? What are their associations with it?

Creative suggestion: mapping out character relationships using bubbles and coloured lines! Things like 'enemies' 'friends' 'family' 'lovers' etc. (just keep a key so we know which is what!)
I've seen this done using graphic design programs, spreadsheets, or even on physical media with a photo taken.

You can start with a favourite character and work out from there, and keep it as simple or as complicated as you like.
