Here in The Realm of OCs, we welcome members to share creations of their original characters — be it art, writing, physical crafts, etc — and to post general discussion, lore, and rambling.

Be sure to check out other's works, and have fun! Anyone is welcome to join.

That being said, here's a few rules to start out:

• Be kind to one another! Please resolve any conflict in private, or contact a mod for help.
• Don't post and run, be sure to interact and comment on other's posts. (This is not strictly enforced, but remember this is a community, not a personal journal.)
• OCxCanon is allowed.
• 18+ content should be age restricted per Dreamwidth's guidelines.
• Tag posts by type (ex. art, writing, music, crochet, rambling, etc).
• Tags can also be descriptive (ex. elf, sci-fi, doctor, etc.), add new ones as needed. Feel free to tag by character name too, but it's not required.

Rules are subject to change as needed at mod discretion.

Everyone who joins is encouraged to write an introduction post! Though it's not mandatory. Here's some suggestions on what to include:

• Who are you? What name / alias and pronouns do you go by? Are you an artist, a writer, aspiring to be, or something else? Anything you find relevant to yourself.
• Who are your main OCs? Are they part of a specific OC universe or fandom? What's their personality like?
• What relationships exist between your OCs? Be it platonic, romantic, familial, or even enemies and so on!

Tag your post as "introduction", and feel free to include as much or as little as you'd like.

As admin, I will post Discussion Prompts weekly every Friday, and Creative Prompts the 1st of every month. Members may post their own prompts off schedule any time!

Discussion Prompts are questions for you to answer in the comments. They may be about your OCs, you as a creative, and everything in between. Your answers can be short or long, a sentence or an essay. Whatever you'd like to share!

Creative Prompts are for you to create something inspired by it. They may be a sentence or two, or as little as one word. It's up to your interpretation, and all mediums are welcome! You can share your finished work in a new post. WIPs are welcome as well!

Hi! Here thanks to elf_wizard's recommendation. I'm Mary and I go by they/them pronouns. I have been making and developing my OCs since 2015. My first OCs where from my first fandom which eventually developed into their own as characters and verse.

I'm primarily a writer and post my fics based on my OCs on my AO3, website, and fic archive DW community. What I enjoy about the most about creating my OCs is developing their internal world. Their self-perceptions, their morals, their fears, their strengths, their weaknesses, etc.

I haven't shared much about them on my socials so I'm excited to be part of this community :).

I'm also here from elf_wizard's post :) I have many names but you can call me Andi, Maggie, or Lucy. Or any of the other ones you find me using on my journal. I use she/gore pronouns. My main OCs are named Vesper and Roan, and I love them so much and have been absolutely insane about them for 2 years, managing to get over 80k words in over that time. I've been a selfshipper since I was very young, so the vast majority of my writing is OC x canon. My favorite part of making OCs is when I think enough about them that they start to take on their own personalities that are separate from mine & can respond to stimuli unbidden :)

developing ocs is so fun to do, and also very fulfilling the further you go imo. nice that u enjoy the inner machinations of characters! i find it interesting to work with in art and writing ✨️

Writing this down before I forget, what about encouraging members to make an intro post? Apart from the basics, we can share info such as main OCs, series, we're actively developing relevant to our future posts.

Saying this because I might forget each member's info so having something to look back on would be helpful.
