hi hi, name's aid (she/her), it's what i'm usually known as online!! 25+ and soon gonna be using 30+ in a few years LOL. asuraid is my usual handle on art sites (or sometimes personal sites like dreamwidth just bc i have no plans of separating art/personal). i do digital art mostly, tho i have the potential adhd bug of 'tries a bajillion new projects/hobbies with the complete fervor of someone ready to conquer the world, and drops them two weeks later because the interest has worn off'. otherwise i do coding (i have my own neocities site), and like making carrds for funsies (i've made a lot mostly for the tumblr roleplay community).

speaking of OCs, i tend to be a person that fixates on a single one for many, many years, and that right now is Sylvie, my genshin OC who you uh ... see plastered everywhere you look on any of my accounts. they're also my first forray back into oc/canon since they kiss mister Zhongli Genshin Impact (art by the lovely scarameownya). my beloved tree god(dess) with a big heart and goofy humour to hide the fact they are smart and observative. also a big foodie.

aside from that, i have my eldritch entity space man Yadyra (who sylvie knows by coincidence of being friends w/his sister who is literal death. no they don't know either how it happened), and Nameless who is a demon king technically under employment by Yadyra (handling corrupt souls to eat/take out of the reincarnation cycle, also hates Sylvie's guts).

otherwise i dont have very many active OCs (but you can check them out on my toyhouse), Sylvie is my insane obsession. i learned abt munbonding semi-recently, and it kinda embodies that they're like a living character in my head to a degree (aka i can talk to them if i want, i dont need to explicitly sit and think on what they'd do ... but it's also a coping/comfort thing to me as well)

Looking forward to read more about your yumeship! I've seen a lot artist yumeshippers on Tumblr and I'm fascinated by the whole concept. Love reading about OCxCanon from series I know.

I used to play Genshin religiously for about a year. Haven't touched it after finishing Sumeru but I love love the whole forest setting. I'm not a big Genshin shipper so I don't think I have biases lol.

to be fair sumeru peaked LMAO but im super biased considering sylvie is from there. and same, honestly there's like only a tiny handful i even vaguely care for and the rest im like ... why tho /silly

BUT YIPPEEE honestly its been a bit of a hill to get used to the oc/canon & yumeshipping scene after being in hiatus for 7 years and coming back to all the new terms cause the 2013 era of that was so Different

they in their case :D or even she LOL, they r babygirl shaped to me, but basically the most tl;dr is used to be a god for sumeru before the whole archon war, but they kinda fell into obscurity thru dying (and reviving) after the war was already over and their ppl scattered, so they were left aimless for a very long time and w/o a proper identity for themselves after being a god their whole life

ocxcanon is so fun, and zhongli is a good choice imo! i used to be into genshin myself when it very first launched and for some years. baizhu is my fave from it forever (:

YESSS baizhu is a wonderful choice too!!! i haven’t seen many who do oc/canon or self shipping with him which is a shame. honestly mine was born out of maybe a little spite of how the shipping fandom treated (or well, treats still to this day) zhongli but that’s a can of worms to open up :P

for good reason it’s a shit fest 💀💀💀 it’s why it’s like the one fandom i’d say im not even on cause i wholeass only stick to the self-ship sphere of it, consuming fanart, yelling abt it with my friend in discord, and roleplaying it on tumblr where people are vaguely more sane

I had never heard of munbonding, but that does sound like how I've experienced my OCs for like... twenty years now. They just walked into my head and helped me make sense of ME. And a handful of them are very active in my head, reacting sometimes to irl situations or even my husband talking about them XD

Anyway thanks for sharing your experience, and your OCs! Sylvie is GORGEOUS and omg did you snatch a toyhouse code to use on your neocities site? His page is gorgeous 😭 I'm in love with your site ngl.

yeah that’s basically how i also experience them!!! i’ve only really had it with sylvie and my previous oc (hideki, he’s also on my site LOL) who was my comfort/support for 7 years before sylvie took over, but they basically throw out quips and comments—and even when i talk to my friend on discord, i use tupperbox to have them toss out comments they wanna say (esp as she also writes their canon partner)

and they or she in this case for sylvie >:D i actually just remade the toyhouse CSS i was using before my premium ran out cause i really liked the layout. well—not fully remade but it was heavily inspired by pinky’s blocky css which is what i bought and had

Man, one of my headpeople (as I call them) reacting to a fic a friend was writing made us eventually create a whole AU with our characters and now we reached a point that both our comfort characters are a comfort to each other. You can't make that up lol

But yeah I feel you about the quips and comments. Got one who LOVES to comment on everything (and has even hit on one of my besties like... know your place ._. (he doesn't lol), another who's a contrarian and legit helps me live my life by being this way, and it's just... I could not live without any of them anymore. I'm sure you feel the same way about Sylvie.

And thanks for the link! I took a peek at your site's code because dammit is it beautiful! I'm in genuine awe. Mine has a long way to come compared to yours lol

ITS OKAY it happens!! to be fair they had he/him as pronouns for like two weeks when i made them then dropped it like a hot potato cause it did NOT fit them 😭😭

YEAHHHH yeah… i completely get it!!!! i’m kinda the same with my bestie who also has her own OCs in her head, and her love for them bled out to me in return

but yeah… i haven’t quite needed them as much as i needed my previous blorbo hideki (mostly born out of a place of living alone for college and needing some mental support to do things), but they still accompany me for conversations or a secondhand buddy while i’m doing things and not zoned out in the process like brushing my teeth

thank you!!! it’s just a lot of trial and error by the end, and having too much experience mucking about with tumblr and toyhouse themes for years LOL (also shredding apart templates)
